Once again, Lynn Painter brings us another rom-com that delivers. Betting on You is a sweet, funny, enemies-to-friends romance that takes the characters from scowls to smiles—and a bit more.
Charlie and Bailey are coworkers. Despite a shared rocky history that started on an airplane trip years ago, they manage to get along. Possibly enjoy each other’s company. But they’re not friends. According to Charlie, it’s impossible for guys and girls to be friends. But Bailey is convinced he’s wrong. This difference of opinion leads to a bet between them on two other coworkers who insist they’re only friends even though a heavy amount of flirting is taking place between them.
And then things get complicated. Bailey’s mom has a new boyfriend, Scott, who is trying to infiltrate their lives. So Bailey schemes with Charlie to send Scott packing, and they come up with a perfect plan. Fake dating each other. Charlie poses as Bailey’s obnoxious love interest. The aim is to irritate Scott to the point that he leaves. He doesn’t.
Instead, Bailey and Charlie find the lines between coworkers and friends become blurred, that their fake dating maybe isn’t so fake after all, and perhaps all bets should be called off.
