By Christina Lauren.
For statistician Jess Davis, numbers never lie. But her faith in number crunching is put to the test when she meets Dr. River Peña. He’s the founder of GeneticAlly, a dating site that uses DNA data to determine its clients’ perfect partners.
River is a snobby, self-absorbed workaholic—not Jess’s type at all—so how did they manage a compatibility score of 98 percent? The higher the couple’s score, the more compatible the match, and no one has scored higher than River and Jess. So GeneticAlly pushes Jess and River to date and get to know each other. After all, the numbers say they’re a perfect match, and the company sees Jess’s Diamond Match with River as a ticket to its future success. Jess, however, isn’t interested in dating River, so GeneticAlly offers to compensate her for her participation.
As they spend time together, Jess sees more to River than a distracted company executive. Just when she starts to believe their match could be legitimate, she discovers something that casts doubt on the legitimacy of their compatibility score. Her belief in the numbers—and River—is jeopardized.
The Soulmate Equation is one of my favorite books by Christina Lauren. The authors’ scientific spin on the search for true love is fun, different, and immensely satisfying. A page-turner that doesn’t disappoint.
