Once More with Feeling

By Elissa Sussman.

This romance hooked me and reeled me in. I was caught—by stage show singer/performer Kathleen Rosenberg (star of the new stage musical Riveted!) and Cal Kirby (her one-time crush and director of said musical). What a fantastic love story!

Kathleen is trying to navigate a career comeback while dealing with unresolved feelings for Cal. Feelings that have festered for years after an unfortunate experience (when they both were on the concert circuit as pop stars) left both their hearts broken.

Now he’s offered her the leading role in the new musical. And she’s accepted. This show has a chance to go on to Broadway, and she has to focus to make it happen. But all the emotions she’d felt for Cal so long ago—good and bad—have come flooding back.

As Kathleen deals with Cal in the present, we discover the role he has played throughout her journey to get here (as a young camper at Camp Curtain Call and a teen pop star Katee Rose on tour). And we learn what happened that caused their relationship to sour. Now, everything rides on Kathleen’s ability to work with him and keep things civil. Can she do it?

One of my favorite reads, “Once More with Feeling,” is a second-chance romance by Elissa Sussman.
