By Martha Waters.
For Jane and Penvale, marriage comes first, then love, in this sweet, engaging Regency romance. Jane is a ward of John Bourne, owner of Trethwick Abbey. Viscount Penvale is Bourne’s nephew. Both Jane and Penvale want to live in Trethwick Abbey. And it seems the only way they can both get what they want is to get married. So what’s the problem? They’re strangers, and the one thing they seem to have in common is a love for Penvale’s ancestral home in Cornwall.
Each has made assumptions about the other as they enter married life. Penvale believes Jane to be an opinionated recluse. Jane sees Penvale as an entitled aristocrat. With their minds made up and carefully avoiding each other, they settle into a daily routine. That is, until a ghost seems to take up residence with them. Is the house truly haunted, or is something devious underfoot? As they investigate, Jane and Penvale get to know each other and find that first impressions can be deceiving, and their marriage of convenience may be destined to transform into a marriage of love.

One of my favorite reads, “To Swoon And To Spar,” is a feel-good Regency romance by Martha Waters.
