This romance swept me off my feet. I laughed. I cried. (Totally cliché, I know.) I stayed up late reading. Because I couldn’t put this book down. It has everything I look for in a story, and it stayed with me long after I read the last page.
Yes, the bodyguard (trained to be a lethal killer) is hired to protect the high-profile client (a renown, drop-dead gorgeous movie star). The twist? The bodyguard is unassuming, ordinary little Hannah Brooks, and the client is massive, outdoorsy Jack Stapleton. She’s content to blend into the background, secretly keeping an eye on Jack and ensuring he is safe from all manner of threats while he visits his family in Texas. Until she inadvertently calls his family’s attention to her presence and is forced to replace stealth with the Plan B cover story. That she is Jack’s girlfriend.
The thing is, Hannah is the total opposite of his beautiful, perfect starlet girlfriends. How could anyone believe this story. But Jack is an actor, a good one at that, and convinces his family they’re a couple. But he plays the role so well that Hannah wonders if there really could be something between her and Jack. And if she’s wrong, who will protect her from heartbreak?

One of my favorite reads, “The Bodyguard,” is a witty, delightful girl-protects-boy romance by Katherine Center.
