By Annabel Monaghan.
Reader Alert: This book is hard to put down and you may have read it non-stop (except for bathroom breaks) from beginning to end. Like I did.
Nora Hamilton writes “Happily Ever After” romances for TV movies. She has the formula perfected, and the scripts pay the bills—barely. When her deadbeat husband leaves her and her two children for “Asia,” she takes her rage and writes the best script of her career. Which lands her a major movie deal. And brings Hollywood to her house for filming. With handsome superstar Leo Vance, who sits on her porch to watch the daily sunrises. When filming ends, Leo doesn’t want to leave and stays on as a paying guest.
During his stay, Nora discovers he is warm, witty, charming, and attentive. Everything a woman could want in a man. Plus, he tells her he’s fallen in love her. She feels it, too. It appears Leo will be the one to bring Nora her happily ever after, something her ex-husband could never do. And then, another movie role comes his way.
Can a real-life romance survive when Hollywood, with all of its glamour, hovers in the background? The story of Nora and Leo cultivates a range of emotions: joy, elation, and contentment, as well as anguish, pain, and remorse. I kept reading because I had to find out, I had to know if a happily ever after was in the cards for them. It was worth the binge, and I’d do it again, even though I now know the answer.

One of my favorite reads, “Nora Goes Off Script,” is a sentimental, feel-good romance by Annabel Monaghan.
